The art of Tinian filet lace takes centre stage today at the new “1868” exhibition space in Chora, Tinos, presented by three women who share a deep love for this unique traditional craft.
Polyxeni Paraskeva and Kyriaki Perivolaraki bring to life cherished memories, forever etched in their minds and preserved in the white chests of their childhood homes. Memories woven into quiet afternoons on the island, when women would sit on the steps of their courtyards, shuttle in hand, patiently stitching their own stories. Every knot held a wish, every pattern carried a piece of their soul, crafted from pure cotton and boundless affection.
With care and respect, Vasiliki Boulerou helped transform these memories into exhibits that form a quiet bridge of love, connecting the hands of the women of yesterday with those of today.
From 18 September to 31 October, the exhibition’s organisers will welcome visitors on a journey back to a Tinos of another era.
